At The Dragon’s Doughmain, every dessert begins as a story.

For our founder, the journey started in childhood, decorating Christmas cookies as part of a family tradition—small, creative moments that felt like something more. That sense of wonder grew into a fascination with edible design, sparked by recreating iconic desserts inspired by beloved stories and films.

As a woman with autism and cerebral palsy, the path forward was not always straightforward. After pursuing Film Production with a focus on Costume Design, life shifted course following a major surgery and a move to Upstate South Carolina. Opportunities in that field became limited—but in that stillness, baking reemerged as both a creative outlet and a way forward.

What began as a way to earn income during recovery quickly became something deeper: a way to merge artistic training, attention to detail, and a lifelong love of storytelling into a single medium. The Dragon’s Doughmain was built on that foundation—resilience, creativity, and the belief that beauty can be found (and created) even in uncertain seasons.

Today, the bakery operates as a woman- and disability-owned custom dessert studio, specializing in small-batch, made-to-order creations. Each cake, cookie, and confection is thoughtfully designed to balance flavor, form, and meaning—whether through hand-crafted detail or carefully executed edible printing.

Rooted in the quiet magic of fairytales and the discipline of design, every piece is created with intention: to feel personal, to be remembered, and to add something special to life’s moments, both big and small.

Now that you know our story, allow us the honor of telling yours.

Our Story

Identity

Proudly woman- and disability-owned, The Dragon’s Doughmain was built on the belief that something as simple as dessert can bring people together. We strive to create a space where all are welcome, and where every celebration, no matter the story behind it, is honored with care and creativity.

Values

Thoughtful Craft

Every detail matters. From flavor to finish, each piece is created with care, intention, and a commitment to quality.

Creativity & Storytelling

We see desserts as more than something sweet—they’re a way to express personality, mark meaningful moments, and bring ideas to life.

Warmth & Welcome

We believe celebrations should feel inclusive, comfortable, and personal. Every order is approached with kindness, respect, and an open mind.

Perseverance & Passion

Built through resilience and a love for the craft, our work reflects the belief that creativity can flourish in even the most unexpected circumstances.

Meaningful Moments

Whether it’s a quiet gathering or a grand celebration, we value the role our creations play in life’s memories—both big and small.

At the heart of it all, we simply believe that something thoughtfully made can make people feel seen, celebrated, and cared for.

Endless Customization

Products / Flavors

We offer more than just your regular sugar cookie; rotating seasonal menus and new additions keep the same products you love refreshed all throughout the year.

Shapes / Designs

We are one of the only (if not THE only) bakery in the area to have a direct-to-food printer. No more nasty icing sheets; just the flavors you love with a design you'll cherish. We also 3D-print our own food-safe cookie cutters to suit the desires of our clients. Between the two, there's practically no design we cannot do!

Made-To-Order

All client orders are made-to-order fresh and to your specifications. Every element of your dessert is made just for you, the way we designed it together.

Whimsy & Wonder

This company and the woman behind it are inspired by the magnificent allure of fantasy and dreams. We aim to put the same feelings of whimsy and wonder into even the most unassuming designs.

Lauren

Owner / Head Baker / Decorator

A lifelong lover of fantasy and fairytales, Lauren creates custom desserts that feel as though they've been pulled from another world, crafted with the same sense of wonder found in stories of knights, dragons, and magic. After more than a decade as a costume designer and earning her degree in Film Production, she set out to turn storytelling into a career, but when that path fell short of what she envisioned, she returned to another creative passion: baking. What began as a redirection quickly became something more; a way to bring imagination to life through edible mediums. Through The Dragon's Doughmain, Lauren blends artistry and flavor to create desserts that are not only beautiful, but immersive; designed to elevate events into something memorable and transportive. Living with autism and cerebral palsy has shaped her perspective and process, influencing the care, intention, and detail she brings to every piece. When she's not baking, she's often lost in a book or film, always in search of the next story to inspire her work.
